Brandon Marshall’s not going to sit back next year if the NFL does lock the players out. He’s made it quite clear that he has a back up plan and it’s quite interesting. He’s anxious to get a try out with the NBA if the NFL does move forward with a lock out.
The wide receiver for the Dolphins is an incredible athlete, but is he good enough to accomplish this goal? He’s confident and believes that the Denver Nuggets and/or Miami Heat will give him a shot. These are the two cities he’s lived or living in.
Marshall is extremely confident about this situation and has mentioned he’s more than capable of playing shooting guard in the NBA. He played basketball in high school and enjoys going to NBA games.
Marshall who was recently traded from the Denver Broncos to the Miami Dolphins has a plush contract. He’s making $47.5 million over four years, but not if there’s a lock out. His discussion about playing in the NBA is all due to his confidence that there will be a lock out.
If there’s a lock out, he wants to be prepared. He will need another job (well, not really need it) and basketball is a real option. He’s talked about his plans to be ready. He’s planning on spending his free time with a basketball coach so he’s ready!
Marshall had some great years in Denver. Although he was loved by the fans most of the time, he also had some down time. He’s pretty confident he would be very welcome in Denver if he did make a return.
The Dolphins staff isn’t very bothered by Brandon making this announcement. They don’t think he has a chance at the NBA. One of the members of the Dolphins staff actually made fun of Brandon’s vertical!
I personally don’t believe the NFL will hold out and go through with their lock out, but if they do Brandon will at least give this dream a solid shot. It’s always fun to see how talented these athletes are and to experience their multi-talented skills in other sports. But on the down side, the lockout would be a disaster for the league and fans.

The man who has represented England’s National Soccer team for the past decade will get one more chance to play for the squad. Coach Fabio Capello has called on Beckham to come play even after announcing that Beckham’s international career was over.
Beckham recently became the leader for the most international soccer games played by any player in England’s history. He’s represented the soccer team in 115 games. This number would have been higher if he wasn’t hurt before the 2010 World Cup, which was upsetting for all supporters.
England is now working towards qualifications into the 2012 European Championship. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like they’ll need Beckham to qualify. Instead it seems as if they’re trying to find the up and coming players to get them in the door.
Capello told the public that he would be bringing Beckham to play, so he can say goodbye. He’s hoping that Beckham can do this at Wembley as it’s the perfect place to say goodbye. Capello also made it very clear that he won’t be using Beckham in any competitive games.
We all know that David’s career is coming to an end. He’s 35 and as much as England doesn’t want to let him go, it’s time they move on. Capello made it clear that these older guys aren’t the answer. England hasn’t done anything spectacular with them anyway, so it’s time for them to find a new answer.
Many England supporters were surprised to see Capello coming out with this news before speaking to Beckham regarding his future. Capello said he had not talked to David yet.
In follow up statements, Beckham’s agent responded. He didn’t like Capello counting out Beckham for the future. He also made it very clear that Beckham will continue to play and has no plans of retirement. If this is true, I admire Beckham even more. He loves the game!
Beckham’s agent said that when David is fit, he’s ready and available to play for England. He also confirmed they haven’t even discussed retirement, so he’s probably hoping to make the 2012 squad. As a fan, I’d love to see him out there but I don’t think he’s their answer at this point in his career.

Over the past several years leading up to the World Cup, Spain never had a problem scoring goals. That wasn’t the case against the rough squad from Netherlands in the final game of the World Cup.
As the final minutes were ticking away, Spain did what they know how to do. They punished the Netherlands and avoided the luck of penalty shots. Both teams were tired and it didn’t help the Dutch that they went a man down.
The man to find the back of the net was Andres Iniesta. It was in the 116th minute, which was obviously in overtime when he scored the winner. They had several great chances throughout the game, but just couldn’t capitalize.
Many teams would have lost their focus, but Spain’s persistent attack is what makes them so good. They knew it would finally come and it did. This was actually the story of the tournament for them as they only scored 8 goals throughout the World Cup. Typically, a championship team will score more than that. This didn’t bother Spain, or if it did they brushed it off and kept working hard.
Things could have been different if the Netherlands capitalized on some of their chances. Arjen Robben had two great chances, one in which some believe is a controversial no-call. If any of these opportunities went in, who knows what would have happened? Instead, they walk away with their 3rd loss in the World Cup finals.
Spain is only the third team in history to win the Euro Cup and the World Cup two years from each other. They currently have both trophies. Spain has some serious bragging rights, while Netherlands has secured the argument even further that they’re underachievers.
Spain didn’t look like championship material until they showed Germany what they can do. They peaked at the right time. Considering the Spanish side was even better at the Euro-Cup, it’s impressive that they were still able to capture the title.
Spain was an extremely deep team. With Fabregas and Fernando Torres on the bench, they had some extra juice to bring in. These tournaments take a serious toll on the players, so having as deep of a team as Spain really goes a long way.
